EDGAR – Auburndale made 24 of its 32 free throw attempts and outlasted Edgar 65-59 in a Marawood Conference South Division boys basketball battle Tuesday night at Edgar High School.
Auburndale trailed 31-30 at halftime before surging ahead in the second and held on with the strength of its free throw shooting.
Caden Weinfurter was a perfect 8-for-8 at the line and scored a game-high 22 points, and Kaden Anderson added 15 points in the win for the Eagles, who are now 6-1 overall and 5-0 in the Marawood South.
Brett Baumgartner had 16 points and Teegan Streit 13 for Edgar (3-2 overall and Marawood South).
Both teams return to action Thursday as Auburndale will play at Stratford (6-1, 4-1 Marawood South) in a Marawood South game, while Edgar travels to Iola-Scandinavia for a nonconference contest.
