AUBURNDALE – C.J. Castellano scored 11 points and had four assists to lead Auburndale’s balanced scoring attack in a 58-41 nonconference boys basketball win over Nekoosa on Tuesday at Auburndale High School.
Tyler Pankratz and Jacob Dorshorst each scored nine points, Austin Hawkins added eight and Garrett Nikolay had five points, four rebounds, five assists and four steals for the Apaches, who won for the third straight time and improve to 9-5.
Derek Baker and Derek Martinson each scored nine points for Nekoosa (4-9).
Just as in their nearly identical 58-39 win over Loyal on Monday, the Apaches jumped out to a quick start. Auburndale led 18-11 at the end of the first quarter and rolled to a 33-20 lead by halftime.
Auburndale returns to Marawood Conference South Division action Thursday at home against Northland Lutheran. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
