Everest sends Marshfield boys basketball team to first loss of season

WESTON – D.C. Everest sent the Marshfield boys basketball team to its first game of the season Friday night, beating the Tigers 48-43 in a Wisconsin Valley Conference game at D.C. Everest High School.

The Tigers, the defending WVC co-champions, fall to 9-1 overall and 3-1 in the conference, while Everest improves to 6-3 and 2-1 in the Valley.

Marshfield led 20-18 at halftime only to see the Evergeens get hot in the third quarter.

Everest outscored Marshfield 16-8 coming out of halftime and the Tigers couldn’t recover in the fourth quarter.

Cale Zuiker scored 17 points and Elliot Ashbeck added 10 for the Tigers.

Marshfield plays a nonconference game at Rhinelander on Tuesday.
