Rahm, Colby surge past Spencer in Cloverbelt East boys basketball action

SPENCER – Colby senior Jeremy Rahm dominated Spencer, scoring 27 points and grabbing nine rebounds to lead the Hornets to a 47-40 Cloverbelt Conference East Division boys basketball win on Friday night at Spencer High School.

The game was tight throughout, with Spencer leading 28-27 at halftime. However, the Hornets rallied by outscoring the Rockets (3-5 overall and Cloverbelt East) 20-12 in the second half to avoid their second straight loss and improve to 5-1 overall and in the conference.

Wyatt Phillips had 14 points and Steven Gilboy added 12 for the Rockets, who shot just 30 percent (15 of 50) from the field. Colby iced the game at the free-throw line, making 13 of 19.

Rahm was 9 of 12 from the field and 9 of 10 from the free-throw line for Colby. He also had four steals.

Spencer plays a nonconference game at Chequamegon on Tuesday.
