WAUSAU – Stratford picked up one individual title and Auburndale wrestlers earned to as the teams placed third and fourth, respectively, at the Wausau East Lumberjack Invitational on Saturday.
West Salem won the team title with 430 points, with D.C. Everest second with 410.5, Stratford third with 376.5 and Auburndale a close fourth at 362.
Carter Lueck won the 175-pound title for Stratford, improving to 38-1 this season with a pin of Zak Wrobel of Sturgeon Bay in 2:50.
Auburndale’s titles came from Derek Godard (34-4) at 113 pounds and Colton Weiler (36-1) at 144. Godard pinned J.J. Mavroff of Winneconne in 47 seconds to take the 113-pound title match, while Weiler won a 17-2 technical fall over Ty Dennee of Crandon in the 144-pound championship.
Stratford had four other top-three finishes as Trenton Cournoyer was second at 126, and Kolton Haupt (106), Collin Cournoyer (120) and Drew Gage (285) each placed third.
Auburndale also had three more top-three finishers. Wyatt Malsin (165) and Greg Brummond (215) were both runner-ups in their respective weight classes, and Zade Grassel placed third at 126.
Both Auburndale and Stratford will compete at the Marawood Conference Tournament next Saturday, Jan. 27, at Phillips.
