STRATFORD – Stratford had four pins and overcame an early deficit to beat Pittsville 43-31 in a Marawood Conference wrestling dual meet Tuesday at Stratford High School.
The Tigers trailed 21-6 after five matches, but won five straight matches to take a 31-21 lead.
Randy Hoefs (103) started the match with a pin for Stratford, and after Pittsville won four straight matches (two by forfeit), Derek Dehlinger started the run of wins for the Tigers with a pin at 135 pounds.
Evan Bohman won 7-1 at 140, Mark Marquardt and Andre Tackes won by forfeit, and Ben Robers won a major decision at 160 to put Stratford out front.
Luke Radke (189) and Indy Spindler (285) piled on pins for the Tigers to close out the match.
Stratford finishes the Marawood dual schedule with a 6-1 record and in second place behind unbeaten Edgar. The Tigers will take part in the Marawood Conference Meet on Saturday at Athens.
