AUBURNDALE – The Auburndale girls basketball halted Pittsville’s eight game winning streak and handed the Panthers just their third loss of the season with a 51-43 win in a nonconference matchup Monday night at Auburndale High School.
The Eagles pulled out to a 28-17 lead at halftime and were able to hold off a second-run run to earn the win and improve to 12-7 this season.
Sidney Wolf had 16 points and Myah Katzenberger 10 for Auburndale.
Reese Grimm led Pittsville (15-3) with 11 points, and Brooke Grossman and Brynn Friday both added 10.
Auburndale hosts Prentice for a Marawood Conference crossover game Friday as part of a girls-boys doubleheader. The girls game starts at 5:30 p.m., with the boys to follow at approximately 7:15 p.m.
